Cisco switch password reset step 1. PC has break key method 1.1 interrupt device start ctrl+break key

Step: shut down the device and restart:

Self decompressing the p_w_picpath: press the ctrl+ break key when starting the device

1.2 change the value of the configuration register to 0x2142 (two register values: 0x2102 (normal), 0x2142 (do not read the saved configuration))

Step: rommon 1 > confreg 0x2142 configuration register has a value of 0x2142

1.3 restart the device

Step: rommon 2 > reset restart the device

1.4 View enable password in saved configuration file

Step: Continue with configuration dialog? [yes/no]: n startup-config is no longer loaded

Router#show startup-config to view previous passwords

Router#copy startup-config running-config loads the previous configuration into memory

1.5 reset enable password

Step: Router#config t enters global configuration mode

Router (config) # enable password cisco resets the password

1.6 Save configuration

Step: Router#copy running-config startup-config will save the configuration after changing the password

Change the value of the configuration register to 0x2102

Step: Router#Router#show version to check the value of the configuration register

Configuration register is 0x2142

Router#conf t

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

Router (config) # conf t

Router (config) # config-register 0x2102 reconfigure register values

Attached: the meaning of register value

0x2102: the interrupt key is blocked during operation, and the device will check the configuration in NVRAM to determine the startup order. If the startup fails, it will start with the default ROM software.

0x2142: used when recovering passwords. Ignore the NVRAM configuration information and enter the initial configuration dialog mode.

2.3 change the value of configuration register to 0x2142

2.4 restart the Devic

Step: rommon1 > reset

2.5 check to see if the value of the changed register is correct

Step: rommon1 > show version

There is a sentence in it: Configuration register is 0x2142 is right if it is worth it.

2.6 View the original configuration and save

Step: Router # show startup-config to view previous configuration

Router#config t enters global configuration mode

Router (config) # show configure memory saves the previous configuration

2.7 reset enable password

Step: Router (config) # no enable password delete the original password

Router (config) # enable password cisco configure a new password

2.8 change the value of the configuration register to 0x2102 and save

Step: Router (config) # config-register 0x2102

Router (config) # exit

Router#write save
