One day I was suddenly alerted that the oracle directory was highly used. Patch _ storage took up about 40G of space after checking.

What is the role of patch _ storage?

Each time a patch is made, some changes are made to the library file and module; before the change, opatch creates a snapshot in the $ORACLE_HOME/.patch_storage/ directory. Sometimes when there is a need to roll back a patch, there is a restore.sh script under this directory that can remove the previously done changes.

That is to say, a certain amount of disk space is required when patching. Otherwise, the copy process cannot be completed. In theory, the maximum space required for a patch is 1.8G, but in practice it will be less than this value, and the general oracle directory will not have so much space left, so don't pay too much attention to it.
