Usually, the abnormal status of CTSS after Oracle RAC installation is caused by a conflict with the NTP service provided by the server operating system, so it is recommended that you completely uninstall the NTP-related software packages of the operating system itself before Oracle RAC installation.

When the running Oracle RAC discovers that the node is out of sync (usually the node time is out of sync and does not cause node downtime), you can use the following steps to modify the CTSS state to return to normal (take linux as an example).

1. View CTSS

Crsctl stat resource ora.ctssd-t-init

NAME TARGET STATE SERVER STATE_DETAILS

Ora.ctssd

1 ONLINE ONLINE XXXX1 OBSERVER

It is found that the ora.ctssd handles the OSBERVER status and confirms the CTSS exception.

2. View ntp-related packages

Rpm-qa | grep ntp

3. Delete ntp package

Yum erase ntpdate-4.2.6p5-5.el6.x86_64

4. Restart ctss

[root@xxxx2 bin] #. / crsctl stop res ora.ctssd-init

CRS-2673: Attempting to stop 'ora.ctssd' on' xxxx2'

CRS-2677: Stop of 'ora.ctssd' on' cxjm2' succeeded

[root@xxxx2 bin] #. / crsctl start res ora.ctssd-init

CRS-2672: Attempting to start 'ora.ctssd' on' xxxx2'

CRS-2676: Start of 'ora.ctssd' on' cxjm2' succeeded

[root@xxxx2 bin] #. / crsctl stat res ora.ctssd-t-init

NAME TARGET STATE SERVER STATE_DETAILS

Cluster Resources

Ora.ctssd

1 ONLINE ONLINE xxxx2 ACTIVE:0

This step is performed on both nodes

The above steps can all be performed as root users
