Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--

Today, I will talk to you about how to delete the logs generated by containers in docker. Many people may not know much about it. In order to make you understand better, the editor has summarized the following for you. I hope you can get something according to this article.

How to delete the logs generated by the docker container? Docker has many log plug-ins. When the container is running, docker will create a file related to the container on the host, and then transfer the logs generated by the container to the file.

Docker container logs are generally stored under / var/lib/docker. You can check the file size of each log using the following command

Ls-lh $(find / var/lib/docker/containers/-name *-json.log)

How to clean the log

If the docker container is running, after deleting the log using rm-rf, you will find that the disk space has not been freed through df-h.

Reason: on Linux or Unix systems, deleting a file through rm or a file manager will unlink (unlink) from the directory structure of the file system. However, if the file is opened (there is a process in use), the process will still be able to read the file and disk space will be occupied all the time.

The correct way is cat / dev/null > *-json.log. Of course, you can also delete it through rm and restart docker.

To view the container log, you can use the docker logs command

Sudo docker logs-f-t-- tail number of rows container name
