Operation instruction

We will complete the preparation of the prerequisites for Primary Site through ConfigMgr Prerequisites Tool. Primary Site is a type of SCCM Site Server. There are three types of Site Server: Central administration site (understood as province), Primary Site (understood as city) and Second Site (understood as district), which are planned and defined from the SCCM management architecture.

If your company has a large number of sites, you can have one Central administration site, multiple Primary Site depending on the physical location of the site, and then multiple Second Site under each Primary Site. If there is only one company site, we can directly use Primary Site as the Standard-alone SCCM server, which can be understood as a Primary Site with Central administration site.

Operation steps

1. The location of resources on the Windows Server 2016 system CD may be required to determine the installation prerequisites

Insert the system image of Windows Server 2016 on SCCM01, and click Settings-> Sources-> Browse to select the system image Sources\ sxs location:

two。 Manually set the location where temporary folders are stored for daily use in SCCM. Of course, you don't have to create them manually. The system will automatically create them in system partitions with large available space as needed. Here I create them manually.

Sites-> Preferences-> Select the non-system partition with more available space on the listed partition, and check D:\-> create:

After the prompt is successfully created, click Continue to close:

When we go to disk D, we can see that there is a NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS file in the root directory:

3. Prepare prerequisites for Primary Site

Sites-> Preferences-> check Retry failed Windows Feature installations with alternate source location (if it fails to obtain the component installation file during installation, it will automatically attempt to obtain it from the Windows Server 2016 system image we mounted)-> install:
