The Dell G5 15 SE now offers AMD's SmartShift technology, which enables mobile processors and graphics cards to switch power to and from each other according to the user's current needs.

Dell first unveiled the G515 SE game laptop at the 2020 International Consumer Electronics Show. At the time of this writing, the laptop starts at $862.39 and includes the AMD Auron 54600H processor, AMD Radiron RX 5600m standalone graphics card, 8GB RAM and 256GB M.2 PCIeSSD. The top models priced at $1273.99 have Ruilong 74800H, radium RX 5600m, 16GB RAM and 1TB solid-state drives.

SmartShift does not require user input or software, and AMD claims that the feature has "improved the average performance of gamers in some games by 14%."

In March, Sony announced that the PlayStation 5 would also use SmartShift.

Nvidia recently announced a similar technology called Dynamic Boost, which allows Max-Q notebook GPU to consume up to 15W of power when CPU can save up to 10 per cent of performance. We think Intel will have something similar on the upcoming Tiger Lake, although it hasn't been officially announced yet.

We hope to test the Dell G5 15 SE and experience SmartShift as soon as possible.
