MDN Web Docs, formerly known as Mozilla Developer Network, is one of the most popular sources of Web standard documentation. The site is a great resource for everything that extends from Chrome to the latest JavaScript API, and earlier this month, Mozilla revealed that it was developing a paid subscription option. Now the subscription is finally official.

"We surveyed more than 60000 MDN users in 2020 and 2021 and learned that many respondents wanted a customized MDN experience. They wanted to organize MDN's vast library in a way that suits them," Mozilla wrote in a blog post. "for today's advanced subscription service, MDN Plus, we have released three new features to meet this need: notifications, favorites and MDN offline."

There are currently three programs to choose from: a trial option called MDN Core with limited functionality, MDN Plus 5 with unlimited access notifications, collection and offline support, or MDN Supporter 10 with additional early access new features and direct feedback channels to MDN. MDN Plus 5 costs $5 per month or $50 per year, while MDN Supporter 10 costs $10 per month or $100 per year.

Offline support is self-evident: it uses the Web browser capabilities commonly used in progressive Web applications to store pages locally, so they can still be loaded without an active Internet connection. The collection feature allows you to follow certain pages to be notified of important changes, such as document changes or when an API is rolled out to more Web browsers.

MDN Plus will be launched in the United States and Canada from today. Mozilla said it would be launched "in the coming months" in France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Ireland, the UK, Switzerland, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore.
