Export OVF template

The OVF package captures the state of a virtual machine or vApp into a separate package. Disk files are stored in compressed, sparse format.

Required privileges: vApp. Export

Prerequisites: The virtual machine needs to be shut down.

Select the virtual machine to export, File-Export-Export ovf template, as shown in the figure:

Note: In the Format field, determine how you want to store the file.

Select a folder of files (OVF) to store OVF templates as a set of files (.ovf,.vmdk, and.mf). If you plan to publish OVF files on a Web server or image repository, this is the most appropriate format. Packages can be imported, for example, to vSphere Client by publishing URLs to.ovf files.

Select Single File (OVA) to package the OVF template into a single.ova file. If the OVF package needs to be explicitly downloaded from a website or moved using a USB key, this option may facilitate distribution of the OVF package as a single file.
