Type of lock for the MYSQL INNODB storage engine:

INNODB implements the following two standard row-level locks:

Shared locks (s lock) allow transactions to read a row of data.

An exclusive lock (X LOCK) that allows a transaction to delete or update a row of data.

In addition, the INNODB engine supports multi-granularity locking, which allows transaction locks at the row level to exist at the same time as locks at the table level. In order to support locking operations at different granularities, the INNODB engine supports an additional locking method called intentional locking.

There are two types of intention locks:

Intended shared locks, transactions want to acquire shared locks for several rows in a table.

With the intention of an exclusive lock, a transaction wants to acquire an exclusive lock for certain rows in a table.
