It is the starting point for medium-sized enterprise storage, but some physical failures or other operations can damage volumes or storage. Therefore, the data recovery technology of series storage has the opportunity to give full play to its ability. Fault description:

The bottom layer of a DELL EqualLogic PS 6011 storage is a RAID composed of 16 600GB SAS hard drives. Is a set of RAID5, this group of crash RAID5 partition of the VMFS file system, in which the virtual machine files are stored, in the upper layer of the storage system is divided into four volumes, of which three volumes are 1.5TB and one volume is 1TB. Hardware detection:

The engineer first checked the hardware of the customer's 16 hard drives and found that the customer's 2 hard drives had bad tracks, and the error redundancy level of SMART had exceeded the threshold. 14 normal hard drives were fully mirrored, and the other 2 bad hard drives were restored with professional tools and generated image files.

Fault analysis:

First collect DEll equallogic ps 6100 storage log information. From the indicator light of the hard disk on the storage, we can see that there are two disks with yellow lights. Analyze the log information collected and the offline time of the two hard drives, so as to know which hard disk has the latest data and use the latest data hard disk for data recovery.

Solution:

Secondly, the RAID state before the virtual restoration of 16 disks is restored, and all four lun are extracted from the virtual RAID through bitmap information.

According to the analysis of the underlying structure, the file systems of four VMFS are combined with cross-area volumes, export user data, and verify whether the virtual machine is normal.

The data was recovered successfully:

We copy all the files in the volume, verify the restored virtual machine through network sharing, and the virtual machine can start normally, and then hand over the virtual machine file to the customer. After a long period of low-level analysis, coupled with constant testing.
