Refers to the number of numbers or instructions that a memory can hold, that is, the ability of a memory to store binary information. Expressed by the product of the memory cell and the number of bits (word length) of each cell, the unit is in bits (1 bit in a binary) or bytes. 8 bits represent 1 byte and 1024 bytes are 1K bytes. The memory capacity of giant or large computers is generally about 2-10 megabytes, the memory capacity of small and medium-sized computers is about dozens of K to 1 megabytes, and microcomputers are 4K-64K bytes. (4) access cycle. Refers to the time it takes for a memory to perform a complete access operation, the access cycle largely determines the computing speed of the computer, the shorter the better. The access period of magnetic core memory is from a few microseconds to a few microseconds, and that of semiconductor memory is from one hundred nanoseconds to hundreds of nanoseconds.
