One of the advantages of services such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams over competitors is that users can customize or even blur unwanted backgrounds in video calls. It can be used for both professional purposes and roles, which is very interesting. Google Meet users may soon get demanding functionality, as the upcoming G Suite release documentation indicates that this feature may be coming soon. At least in terms of functionality, this will make Google's professional videoconferencing applications almost equivalent to market leaders.

When the pandemic took our lives and people began to stand still and needed videoconferencing tools, Zoom quickly jumped into the shadows. Google is running a little slower, but once they offered Meet for free last May, it began to gain momentum. It's easier to use, and if you embed it into the entire Google ecosystem, it's the perfect video calling app. They are also completing the conference takeover of Hangouts, so now is the best time to demonstrate its functionality.

What it lacks is the ability to blur the background and use a custom background. But it seems that they may increase, as long as there are two interesting items in the document listing the version of G Suite: "background blur and replacement (for mobile devices)" and "background blur and replacement (for desktops)." This means that this feature will apply to mobile and desktop computers because users are using it for video calls.

However, this distribution list is not actually the final official document. Tech Radar says it adds a new project every three months and then removes features introduced by G Suite users. It also said that the listing function is not guaranteed to be released in the general market and may be different from the current form.

Hopefully, after the latest update is released, we will be able to determine whether it will be inevitable. Of course, this will be a good thing, although it can be said that other features in development may be more important, such as cloud-based noise cancellation, group discussion rooms, and integrated digital whiteboards.
