This article will explain in detail how to customize Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon. The editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it with you as a reference. I hope you can get something after reading this article.

I currently use KDE on my main computer, but with the release of GNOME 3 (GNOME 3. 8), I plan to switch to the GNOME shell desktop and use several plug-ins for customization. Long live freedom!

This leads to the topic of this article: how to customize Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon. There are not many aspects to customize, but if I want to use the Cinnamon desktop on the main computer, these changes are the changes I need to make so that the desktop suits the way I use my computer.

1. Disable hot spots (Hot Corner): one of the most annoying features I encountered on KDE and GNOME 3 is hot spots (Hot Corner). If I move the mouse around, the desktop looks completely different. What's going on? It turns out that the mouse cursor has been moved to the hot area.

In Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon, the hot spot is located in the upper-left corner of the desktop. If you can't stand the hot spot like me, here's how to disable it.

From the Settings manager of Cinnamon, click Hot Corner (hotspot). By default, hot spots are enabled in the upper-left corner of the desktop. The default effect is Expo mode. To disable hot spots, simply select Disabled from the drop-down menu. So we can take care of the hot spot.

two。 Add applets such as Expo and Scale to the panel: although I find hot spots annoying, the effects it triggers are actually useful. This effect is that Expo mode can be scaled down to display all workspaces or virtual desktops on the system. By default, there are two workspaces. Another mode is Scale, which zooms out to show all the windows that are currently open in the workspace. To further control when display and zoom modes are activated, I think it's better to add Expo and Scale applets to the panel. That way, all I have to do is click on a small app to trigger the effect.

To add an applet to the Cinnamon panel, right-click the panel and select Add applets to the panel (add applet to the panel).

The Applets window should open. Look for Expo (presentation) applets. Select it and click the Add to panel button. For the Scale (Zoom) applet, repeat the steps.

If you want to remove an applet from the panel, you can't help clicking the Restore to default button. This will erase any previous changes you made to the panel. To clear an applet, right-click it and select Remove from panel (remove from the panel).

This is what the Expo mode looks like when it is triggered.

When Scale mode is triggered, the same desktop is rendered.

3. Add the Workspace (workspace) switcher applet to the panel: the visual effects of Expo and Scale modes are dazzling. For example, the Scale mode provides you with effects that you can already access from the task manager. Expo mode replicates a feature of the Workspace (workspace) switch, but it adds a function. If you add the Workspace switch applet to the panel, you can switch between virtual desktops with a click of the mouse. To add the applet to the panel, repeat the same steps that you just added the Expo and Scale applets.

On my test computer, I have these three mini-applications on the panel. It completely gives me a lot of options. In addition to the custom settings given in this article, you can use more settings to make this desktop consistent with the way you normally use it. Cinnamon's Settings manager has many modules that can help you, so take a moment to explore them.

This is the end of this article on "how to customize Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon". I hope the above content can be of some help to you, so that you can learn more knowledge. if you think the article is good, please share it for more people to see.
