Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--

Recently, after upgrading subordinate clients from Windows XP to WIndows 7, it is necessary to migrate to disk D to ensure that user folder data is not lost during recovery. Starting with WIndows 7, user folders cannot be directly migrated from disk C to disk D with tools. After looking for a way on the Internet, there is still a way to migrate. After installation, it takes more laborious steps to change the user folder drive letter directly during installation to ensure installation reliability. When the new system is installed:

In the process of installing Win7, when you are asked to enter a user name and password, you might as well enter any information, press "Shift+F10" to exhale the DOS window, and enter the following commands in turn:

Robocopy "C:\ Users"X:\ Users" / E / COPYALL / XJ

Rmdir "C:\ Users" / S / Q

Mklink / J "C:\ Users"X:\ Users"

Then close the DOS window and continue the installation step by step until it is complete. (note: the space between the parameters of the above command cannot be omitted)

With Windows7 so installed, all the contents of the "user special folder" (User Special Folder) have been set on disk X (non-system disk).

In order to facilitate employees to use the default on disk D, after the installation is completed, check and find that the user folder has run to disk F. This is still the case after repeated installation twice. After searching, it is found that it is because of the partition. During installation, the D disk under DOS is actually the fourth logical partition, and the drive letter goes back to the second primary partition after Windows startup, resulting in such a result. Direct copy is not feasible, but the data is all on the last logical partition, so there will be some trouble in restoring the data. How to migrate it? after many tests, it is found that it can be changed. Only need to copy the user folder to disk D, use the registry tool to modify the following key value (changes here need to be careful will lead to the user cannot log in) HKEY_LocalMechine/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/Profilelist has to start with Smur1-5-21 directory in the key value of the disk letter address changed to disk D, and then the same folder name .bak suffix deleted after restart to achieve the default storage path of the user folder to disk D.
