From 2006, Google first proposed the concept of cloud computing, to 2019 today, after more than 10 years of rapid development, cloud computing related business models and technologies have been very mature. Many enterprises are located in different service areas such as IASS, PASS and SASS. The business models of IASS and SASS are relatively mature. At present, the development of cloud computing has a taste of "one life, two births, three births and all things". Based on the original cloud computing, public cloud and private cloud (also known as proprietary cloud) are derived. The combination of private cloud and public cloud is also called hybrid cloud. A hybrid cloud composed of private clouds and multiple public clouds is also called "cloudy." According to the development of different industries, many new concepts such as "game cloud,""medical cloud,""government cloud,""financial cloud" and "industrial cloud" have been derived. Different cloud service vendors want to find a unique label for themselves, such as Ucloud's neutral cloud, which strongly indicates that they do not stand with BAT and do not get involved in customer business areas.

(i) Core technologies of cloud computing

Cloud computing is a very broad concept, including many types of services available, but can be divided into the following categories:

IaaS(infrastructure as a service)

At the fundamental level, IaaS public cloud providers provide storage and compute services. But the services offered by all the major public cloud vendors are amazing: elastic computing services, virtual private networks, high-performance cloud data, application monitoring, and more. AWS is the first IaaS provider and is still the industry leader at present. There are Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Tianyi Cloud, Jinshan Cloud, Ucloud, Baidu Cloud, etc. in China.

IASS is a mature, lowest-level cloud service. IASS service is based on basic resources such as computer rooms, cabinets, servers, switches, firewalls, and dedicated lines. Services such as PASS and SASS can be built on top of IASS services. One of the core technologies in IASS is virtualization technology. Before virtualization and cloud computing appeared, there were problems such as steep entrepreneurship curve, high cost and difficulty in operation and maintenance management of Internet enterprises. Before the application system goes online, each enterprise needs to consider purchasing servers, hosting IDC, network equipment configuration, network security, etc. The whole project cycle is long, and it is necessary to establish a perfect technical team (such as development + operation and maintenance +DBA+ network engineer). The whole project is relatively difficult. In the later maintenance, it is easy to have some problems such as low utilization of physical server resources, rapid growth of business, too long procurement cycle of hardware equipment, and impact on business.

The core technology of elastic computing (cloud host) in IASS service is virtualization technology. Compared with mainstream VmWare, KVM, XEN, Hyper-V, etc., the main mainstream IASS cloud services are based on KVM virtualization.

SaaS(software as a service)

This type of public cloud delivers applications over the Internet via a browser. Lowering the threshold for customers to use software, only a computer with Internet access can access relevant software systems through a browser. A little more complicated is to call the API interface of SASS service providers to fulfill their own needs, which can be used according to quantity and demand.

PaaS(platform as a service)

PaaS provides services and workflows specifically for developers who can use shared tools, processes, and APIs to accelerate application development, testing, and deployment. For enterprises, PaaS ensures that developers have access to ready-made resources, follow certain processes and use only a specific set of services, while operators maintain the underlying infrastructure.
