Fault phenomenon

The Beijing branch of an American customer reported that there were two DELL servers (R620 and R720) reporting errors that needed to be dealt with on the spot. The error report is as follows:

Voltage sensor detected a failure value Sensor location: System Board PS1 PG FailChassis...

Malfunction analysis

This should be the BIOS firmware bug of the DELL server, which can be solved by upgrading the BIOS firmware or by discharging. Customer IT Wintel Team requests discharge resolution.

Solution method

Power off the server, unplug the power cord from the server (usually two power cords), press the power on button for at least 20 seconds to release the remaining power on the motherboard, then turn it on and return to normal after testing.
