Most of the company's products adopt wireless transmission function, which is equivalent to DTU (data transfer unit).
DTU: a wireless that is specially used to convert serial data into IP data or IP data into serial data for transmission through wireless communication networks.
Since DTU is mostly used in remote monitoring sites, the stability of DTU becomes very important.
So what are the DTU test methods? It is worth thinking about. Here I would like to list a few points for your reference:
-) online idle test
Test reason: test DTU's own ability to maintain established links. When there is no data, DTU maintains its connection through breathing packet (heartbeat). DTU should maintain an average link duration of at least 1 hour without disconnection and reconnection.
Test method: let DTU connect to the data center without sending any data, and observe how long it can maintain the link, the longer the better. Towards the end of this test, several packets should be sent to the data center and to the DTU to verify that the free link maintained by the DTU is truly available, and if either side of the DTU or the data center is unable to receive the other party's packet, it is not qualified.
II) resume testing after data center / DTU shutdown
Test reason: during the future operation and maintenance of the data center, it is certain that the service will be temporarily suspended, so it is necessary to test the rapid resilience of DTU after the recovery of the data center.
Test method:
1) allow the data center to shut down for a short time, such as 1 minute, and then restore the data center to see if the DTU can be connected quickly. The recovery time should be within 5 minutes, and the sooner the better. If the test is repeated many times, the DTU must be able to restore the connection at 100%. As long as the DTU always fails to restore the connection, it will be a failure.
2) allow the data center to shut down for a long time, such as 60 minutes, and then restore the data center to see if the DTU can be connected quickly. The recovery time should be within 5 minutes, and the sooner the better. If the test is repeated many times, the DTU must be able to restore the connection at 100%. As long as the DTU always fails to restore the connection, it will be a failure.
3) allow DTU to shut down for a short time, such as 1 minute, and then restore DTU to see if it can be quickly connected to the data center. The recovery time should be within 5 minutes, and the sooner the better. If the test is repeated many times, DTU must be able to restore the connection at 100%. As long as the DTU always fails to restore the connection, it will be a failure.
4) allow DTU to shut down for a long time, such as 60 minutes, and then restore DTU to see if it can be quickly connected to the data center. The recovery time should be within 5 minutes, and the sooner the better. Repeat this test many times. DTU must be able to restore the connection at 100%. As long as there is a phenomenon that DTU can never restore the connection, it is not qualified.
III) frequent two-way small data testing
Test reason: test the ability of DTU to send and receive small packets frequently, because the daily operation is mainly the frequent two-way sending and receiving of small packets.
Test method: in the data center (transmission side) and DTU side (embedded side), send a 100-byte data packet to each other every 10 seconds for 30 minutes, and count whether there is a network disconnection, and whether there is a packet loss on both sides. The best result is: no disconnection reconnection occurs, no data packets are lost, and if there is a DTU disconnection, it will never be online again. Or can not continue to send and receive data in both directions after being online, that is, there is a problem.
4) two-way big data stress test
Test reason: some applications need to transfer a large amount of data temporarily, so this test is also very necessary.
Test method: in the data center and DTU, a data packet of about 1000 bytes is sent to the other side every 2 seconds for 30 minutes, and statistics are made to see if there is a network disconnection, and whether there is a packet loss on both sides. Generally speaking, under the stress test, DTU may be disconnected and reconnected, and the data packet will also be lost. However, the number of disconnected reconnections should not exceed 10 times, and the smaller the number of times, the better. If the DTU can no longer be online after disconnection, or can not continue to send and receive data in both directions, it will be unqualified.
