If you have a laptop that can access the Internet wirelessly, and your desktop does not have a wireless card, and happens to find an idle network cable, you can still use your desktop to share the wireless network of your laptop.

Connect your laptop to your desktop computer with a network cable

In your laptop, set the IP address of the wired network card to 192.168.0.1 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

In your laptop, right-click the wireless Nic, click Properties, switch to the sharing tab, check allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection, and select Ethernet (that is, your wired Nic) in the home network connection, as shown in the figure below:

On your desktop computer, set it to obtain IP address and DNS server address automatically.

At this point, your desktop computer can also surf the Internet.
