Question:

VCenter Server returned a 503 service unavailable error and the data in the database is growing too fast.

Solution.

1. Restart the VCenter service (generally speaking, restarting the VCenter service can solve the problem that the service is not available)

two。 If vCenter Server still returns 503 service unavailable error after restarting VCenter service, confirm whether VCenter is using Server 2008R2 system. If so, install Microsoft hotpatch 2577795.

3. If this problem still occurs frequently when installing Microsoft hotfix 2577795, make sure that the VCenter data pants are caused by abnormal log growth, resulting in a full disk space. If the VCENTER service is unavailable because of abnormal data growth in the database, the disk space is full and you cannot continue to write data, then you also need to truncate the data in the database.

4. If the above methods are not effective, it is recommended to reinstall VCenter and replace the operating system with Server 2012 or higher.

How to truncate the Sql Server database?

Reference documentation https://blog.51cto.com/roberthu/2047386

If the log of sql server is too large, log truncation is required. Log in to sql server to select the database, open the properties, adjust the log level from complete to simple, and click OK. At this point, the large log files in the past have become useless.

Open the properties again and change the log level from simple to complete.

Select database, select shrink, select log. You can see that 99% of them are available. Click OK, and the sql server will shrink and will be finished soon.

Why replace VCenter's 2008R2 operating system with Server 2012 or higher?
