Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--
This article is about how to create and set up a family group in the windows system and some points for attention. I think it is very practical, so I share it with you. I hope you can get something after reading this article. Let's take a look at it.
Now that you know some considerations for creating and setting up a HomeGroup, let's take a look at how to create a HomeGroup.
(1) Please make sure that a local area network has been established, that all computers are correctly connected to the local area network, and that the whole local area network is working properly.
(2) use the left mouse button to click the network icon in the notification area in the lower right corner of the screen, and select "Open Network and sharing Center" from the pop-up menu, then you will be able to see the network and sharing center window.
(3) under the "View Network activity" option in the Network and sharing Center, you can see an option called "HomeGroup". If it is shown here as "ready to create" as shown in figure 1, it means that there is no HomeGroup in the current network. you can start creating. However, if it is shown as "can be joined", it means that a HomeGroup already exists in the local area network. At this time, you can only choose to join the HomeGroup, not create a new HomeGroup. If it is shown here as "joined", it means that this computer is already a member of HomeGroup.
Figure 1 determines whether there is a HomeGroup to join or to create a new HomeGroup
(4) Click "create HomeGroup" in the interface that appears to begin the creation process.
(5) you can first see the interface shown in figure 2, where you need to decide what to share with the HomeGroup. It should be noted here that win7 system downloads allow only built-in libraries to be shared to Homegroups. If you want to share more custom libraries and folders that are not added to the library to the HomeGroup, you need to share the corresponding actual folders to the HomeGroup.

(6) after selecting the library to be shared, click the "next" button, and Windows will start to set up and adjust the system, which may take some time. Once set up, you can see the interface shown in figure 3, which means that the HomeGroup has been created. The password shown here must be kept in mind, because other computers can join the HomeGroup only after entering the password, but users can also change the password.
Figure 3 after creation, the system automatically assigns a default strong password to the HomeGroup
(7) after writing down the password, click the finish button to exit the wizard.
You may then need to set some options for the HomeGroup. Please open the Network and sharing Center again, at this time, the status of the HomeGroup will be displayed as "added", click the word "added", and then you can see the interface shown in figure 4.
Figure 4 you can change the configuration options for the HomeGroup here.
Under the shared Libraries and printers option, you can share other libraries with the HomeGroup, or stop sharing some libraries.
Under the "other HomeGroup actions" option, some more important things are listed that require special attention.
1) View or print the home group password: this option lists the passwords currently used in the home group and can print them out. It is recommended not to change the default password at will, because this default password is very secure, not only long, but also contains a variety of characters, belonging to a secure password. Although such a password is difficult to remember, it is only needed when the computer is added to the HomeGroup, and it can be ignored 4.
2) change the password: if there is a real reason to want to use a different password, you can change it through this link. However, it is important to note that if there are already multiple computers in the HomeGroup, you can change the password on any of the joined computers, but after the change is successful, you also need to enter this new password on each of the other computers that join the group (if you access HomeGroup resources on other computers, you will see a dialog box asking for a new password) and you need to pay attention to changing the HomeGroup password. Passwords here are different from passwords elsewhere and are not displayed as asterisks, but as the characters that actually make up the password, mainly to facilitate recording and use on other computers. Therefore, when changing the password in the flagship version of win7, please ensure the security of the surrounding environment.
3) leave HomeGroup: if you want to quit HomeGroup, you can use this link. After clicking the link, you can see the interface shown in figure 5, where three different options are provided.
Leave HomeGroup: this option allows this machine to completely exit from HomeGroup.
Do not leave, and do not change anything: this option applies to misoperation, you can click to exit this option without making any changes to the HomeGroup.
Don't leave, but change what I'm sharing: if you don't want to quit the HomeGroup, but just want to change what you want to share, you can click this option and adjust it.
4) change advanced sharing settings: clicking this link will provide a large number of options, and all options are divided into "home or work" and "public". In fact, these are the two different network types in Windows, which are suitable for different network environments. With the options here, you can adjust the sharing and HomeGroup options in different types of environments. Each option here has a detailed text description, but in general, you don't need to adjust these options and use the default settings to work well. It is also important to note here that only the Home network can create and add a HomeGroup, so if you cannot create or join, please check the network type set up by the current network.

It should be noted here that depending on the environment and speed of the network and the number of computers joining the HomeGroup, it may take a long time to apply to all computers in the HomeGroup after some changes have been applied to the HomeGroup. During this period of time when the configuration is applied, the HomeGroup configuration interface will see a message similar to that shown in figure 6, while all other configurations cannot be changed. You can modify the configuration again when the changes are applied to all computers in the HomeGroup.
