Mac multi-screen display method is very simple, directly plug in the external display, and then set it up, Apple official gave a detailed tutorial, friends will not take a look at it.

Use multiple monitors with your Mac By providing the option to use additional screen space, your Mac can make the most of each connected monitor. Learn how to extend or mirror your work to other monitors.

There are a number of ways you can set up additional displays for your Mac. In addition to the built-in display, you can connect other displays on your Mac. If your Mac doesn't have a built-in display, you can add additional displays to the first display you connect. You can also mirror or extend your Mac desktop on HDTV using AirPlay and Apple TV.

When connecting other monitors, you can:

Set up extended desktops so that one monitor becomes an extension of another monitor. Set up video mirroring so that other monitors display the same desktop and windows as the primary monitor. Set Up Closed Display Mode to use your external display when your Mac laptop is closed. Set up extended desktop

When you use multiple monitors as a continuous desktop, you can spread your work any way you want. When you move the mouse pointer over the edge of one monitor, it appears in the other monitor. Initially, your home display has all desktop icons, and the app window appears on the home display when it opens. You can drag them to another monitor as needed.

Here's how to set up an extended desktop:

Connect another monitor and power on the monitor. From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences. Choose Monitor. Click the Arrange tab. Make sure the Mirror Display check box is not selected.

When you set up Extended Desktop with other monitors in OS X Mavericks or later:

Each monitor has a menu bar. Each monitor can have full-screen apps. To display an app in full-screen mode, click the green button in the upper-left corner of the app window. Or press Control-Command-F. You can use Mission Control to organize windows and full-screen apps across multiple displays. If the Dock is at the bottom of the screen, you can move the pointer to the bottom edge of any screen to view the Dock on that screen. array display

You can tell Mac where your monitors are relative to each other. With this feature, the connected display matches your actual position as you move between windows.

A blue box in the Arrange panel indicates that you have all the monitors connected to your Mac. The size of each box represents the current resolution of each monitor. In this example, the smaller box on the left represents the MacBook display. The larger box on the right is the Apple 27-inch Thunderbolt Display.

To change the position of the monitor, drag its blue box to the desired location. For example, you might have an external monitor on the left side of your MacBook in your workspace. If its blue box is on the right, you can drag it to the left to match the actual position.

The white bar at the top of the blue box indicates the main display. The home display is where desktop icons and application windows first appear when they are open. To set another monitor as the primary monitor, drag the white bar into the box that represents that monitor.

Set up video mirroring

Video mirroring allows you to display the same desktop and windows on multiple monitors simultaneously. With this feature, you can view content such as photos or videos on a larger monitor or HDTV.

Here's how to set up video mirroring:

Connect another monitor and power on the monitor. From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences. Choose Monitor. Click the Arrange tab. In the lower-left corner of the Arrange panel, select Mirror Display.

In OS X Mavericks or later, a status menu was added to make it easier to mirror the monitor. Use this menu to select an Apple TV or TV to use as a monitor. This menu appears when you are connected to an HDTV or when an Apple TV is available on the network. To add a menu to the top of the screen, select Show Mirror Options in Menu Bar (when available).

Blue boxes indicate all monitors you have connected. The white bars at the top of the two boxes represent the main display. In video mirroring, since both displays display the same information, they both have white stripes.

You may see black bars at the edges of the screen. This occurs if you select a resolution supported by only one monitor in the Monitors panel. Your Mac uses the closest matching resolution.

To switch between video mirroring and extended desktop, press Command-Brightness Down.
