Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--

Dedicated Server means that customers rent a server independently to display their own website or provide their own services, which has the advantages of larger space, faster speed, CPU computing independence, etc. than virtual hosts, and of course the price is more expensive. When users need to transfer some important files to another server, how should they operate? Today, Xiaobian brings you the content about the local storage of the physical machine where the instance is located: local SSD disk, there is a certain reference value, friends in need can refer to it, I hope to help you.

Previous Generation Disk-Local SSD

Local SSD drive

Local SSD drives are no longer available for sale. The following is for users who are still using local SSD drives.

Local SSD drives come from local storage on the physical machine where the instance resides. This type of storage provides block-level data access capabilities for instances with low latency, high random IOPS, and high throughput I/O capabilities.

When using a local SSD drive, note the following:

Since the storage space comes from the server's local SSD drive, there is a risk of a single point of failure. It is recommended to do data redundancy at the application layer to ensure data availability.

After ordering, CPU, memory, and local SSD configurations are not supported.

characteristics

The local SSD disk uses the local SSD disk on the physical server where the instance is located as the storage space, and has the following characteristics:

Low latency: Typically provides access latency in microseconds.

High random I/O: Delivers up to 12000 random IOPS performance.

High throughput: Provides I/O throughput performance of up to 300 MB/s.

Limited data reliability: Since local SSD drives come from a single physical server, data reliability depends on the reliability of the physical server, with a single point of failure risk. It is recommended to do data redundancy at the application layer to ensure data availability.

Maximum 800 GB capacity: A single local SSD drive provides up to 800 GB of storage space.

Mount unmount is not supported: mount unmount alone is not supported because it comes from the local disk of the physical server.

CPU, RAM, and local SSD configurations are not supported after ordering.

application scenarios

Local SSD drives have the characteristics of low latency, high random I/O and high throughput, suitable for distributed I/O-intensive applications with redundancy capability, but do not require high data reliability scenarios, such as:

Distributed applications: I/O-intensive applications such as NoSQL, MPP data warehouse, distributed file system, etc. This type of application itself has distributed data redundancy capability, and the local SSD disk can provide I/O performance with low latency, high random I/O and high throughput.

Large online application logs: Large online applications generate a large amount of log data that requires high-performance storage, while log data does not require high storage reliability.

Swap partition as an instance: Swap space can be used in Linux when the memory required by the application exceeds the actual memory allocated. When swap space is enabled, Linux systems can frequently swap in-use memory pages from physical memory to swap space (whether dedicated partitions of existing file systems or swap files) and free space for memory pages that require fast access speeds.

local disk

This type of disk has been discontinued. There are still some old users who use local disks.

Users using local disks need to be aware that there is a risk of a single point of failure since the storage space comes from the server's local disks. It is recommended to do data redundancy at the application layer to ensure data availability.

The above is the local storage of the physical machine where the instance is located: the details of the local SSD disk, please pay more attention to other related articles!
