Use AdobeFlexBuilder

Admittedly, we can complete the writing of MXML and ActionScript through UltraEdit, EditPlus and even notepad, but as a programming language that focuses on interface design, a mature integrated development environment (IntegratedDevelopEnvironment,IDE) is essential. When dealing with a large number of interface elements and troubleshooting the compilation errors of the program, a good IDE can achieve twice the result with half the effort.

When Adobe releases Flex, it releases an efficient IDE--FlexBuilder, which provides strong support for the development of Flex. It should be noted that FlexBuilder is a commercial IDE that can be downloaded from the Internet for a free trial period of 30 days, after which you have to pay to use it.

◆ FlexBuilder3 belongs to the Flex3 product set, is an Eclipse-based IDE, through FlexBuilder3 can efficiently complete the design and writing of MXML, ActionScript and FlexCharting, and quickly create a variety of Flex projects and applications.

Not only that, FlexBuilder3 also supports Adobe's new generation of RIA development platform AdobeIntegratedRuntime, namely AIR. ◆ FlexBuilder3 supports Windows and Macintosh systems, and because Eclipse,FlexBuilder3-based installations are divided into stand-alone installation and plug-in installation. Here, developers who have already installed Eclipse are recommended to use plug-in installation to avoid repeated installation of Eclipse and JRE on the one hand, and a better combination of enterprise development and Flex development that supports JavaEE on the other.

When installing the plug-in version, be careful to set the correct Eclipse path location to ensure that FlexBuilder3 runs correctly, as shown in figure 1.8. Fill in the path to Eclipse in the text box below "PleaseChooseanExistingEclipseFolder:".

Eclipse is a powerful integrated development environment and model platform. In the early days, Eclipse can only support the development of Java language. Later, Ruby, UML and other languages all implemented customized integrated development environment on the basis of Eclipse platform, and so is Adobe's Flex. FlexBuilder is based on Eclipse, so it is very easy for developers with Eclipse development experience to get started, while for beginners, FlexBuilder brings a powerful integrated development environment platform that is standardized and widely used.
