Set

This article mainly discusses the concept of Collection in ConfigMgr.

Type (Type)

There are two types of collection types in ConfigMgr:

Device collection: can contain user collections of non-user elements such as computers, mobile devices, etc.: user accounts, Active Directory group restriction sets (Limiting Collection)

Restrict the collection to filter the collection members, limiting the collection members to a predefined scope, the logic is as follows:

Limit collection L sample collection definition set A final member of sample collection A = L ∩ A membership rule direct rule (Direct Rule)

Direct rules statically define members within a collection

Query rules (Query Rule)

Dynamically query elements, such as Select * from SMS_R_System, based on the evaluation of various attributes of the SCCM client

Include rules (Include Rule)

Similar to direct rules, except that direct rules statically specify the members of the collection, including another set that should be included in the rule static set:

Average ∩ (I + O)

Exclusion rule (Exclude Rule)

Reverse logic that contains rules, telling SCCM by statically specifying a collection that ultimately should not have collection members defined in the exclusion rule:

Atropia L ∩ (O-E)

O member sets generated for other non-exclusion rules

I is a set of members generated by containing rules

E the member set generated for the exclusion rule

Note that no matter which rule it is, the members of the final collection will not exceed the scope of the restricted set.
