DirectX 10.1

DirectX 10.1 is an incremental update of DirectX 10.0. It provides higher visual quality by supporting multi-sampling anti-aliasing (MSAA) capabilities. DirectX 10.1 also supports Shader Model 4.1 and Cubemap Array.

Supports graphics memory up to 3 GB for DirectX 10.1s

REST API

You can use Workstation RESTful API to automate common virtual machine tasks through standard JSON over HTTP/HTTPS. The following virtual machine operations are supported:

Manage virtual machine inventory

Manage virtual machine power

Clone a virtual machine

Manage network connections

Support for high DPI

High DPI related features require the operating system of hosts and virtual machines to be Windows 10 version 1703 or later.

Support for a high host-level DPI-Workstation interface automatically detects host-level DPI changes and automatically adjusts the layout to match the new DPI.

Client DPI synchronizes with host-when a DPI change occurs on the host side, the client operating system adjusts its DPI to match the host DPI.

This feature requires the use of VMware Tools 10.3.2.

Hosts and clusters view when connecting to vCenter

When connecting to a remote vSphere, Workstation 15 Pro adds a "hosts and clusters" view. The list tree now displays a hierarchical arrangement of objects in two different views: the hosts and clusters view and the Virtual Machine view. You can easily switch between the two views with just one click.

This is a Windows host-only feature.

Support for vSphere 6.7

Workstation 15 Pro provides seamless support for vSphere 6.7. You can connect from Workstation 15 Pro to a remote ESXi 6.7 host or vCenter Server 6.7 to manage remote virtual machines running on vSphere. You can also upload local virtual machines to vSphere 6.7 or download remote virtual machines running on vSphere 6.7 to local desktops.

You can also deploy the VMware VCSA 6.7 (vCenter Server Appliance) OVA package to run on Workstation 15 Pro.

USB automatically connects to the virtual machine

When the Workstation 15 Pro is configured to remember the connection rules, the USB device can automatically connect to the virtual machine that is powered on.

This is a Windows host-only feature.

Log in to the Linux virtual machine through SSH

You can now access the Linux virtual machine using the SSH provided by Workstation 15 Pro.

This feature requires the host operating system to be Windows 10 version 1803 or later.

Enhanced user experience

Stretch client displays as Linux clients and Windows clients earlier than Windows XP enable stretch client display. You can use the maintain aspect ratio stretch feature to stretch the virtual machine display while maintaining the aspect ratio of the user interface, or you can use the Free stretch feature to stretch the virtual machine display to fill the user interface. This is a Windows host-only feature. "opening the virtual machine directory, you can now easily access the virtual machine directory from the Windows host by right-clicking the virtual machine in the Workstation Pro library and selecting Open virtual machine directory." This feature is already supported by Linux Workstation Pro.

Support for Linux host Wayland

Workstation 15 Pro can now be run on the Wayland desktop of the Linux host. To install Workstation Pro on the Wayland desktop, you must install it in terminal mode.
