EMC PowerPath is a management software for path selection, redundancy and load balancing, compared with HP,IBM and other vendors.

The advantage of EMC is that it can achieve load balancing, while other manufacturers only support basic failover.

1) install the RPM package

First upload the powerpath installation package to the server: (d:\ EMC storage configuration\ powerpath)

[root@shcrm tmp] # ls * .rpm

EMCpower.LINUX-5.3.1.00.00-111.rhel.i386.rpm

Start the installation:

[root@shcrm tmp] # rpm-Uvh EMCpower.LINUX-5.3.1.00.00-111.rhel.x86_64.rpm

Prepare. # [100%]

1:EMCpower.LINUX # # [100%]

2) Registration

Register for PowerPathLicense:

[root@shcrm ~] # emcpreg-install

Enter PowerPathLicense at the prompt

PowerPath license key: BZPV-ZB4K-BFTK-QOME-ML9O-UYFB

If you enter a valid registration key, you will see the following output:

1 Key (s) successfully added.

Key successfully installed:

If you enter an invalid registration key, an error message appears on the screen

You are prompted for a valid key.

3) start PowerPath

Load the PowerPath module:

[root@shcrm ~] # / etc/init.d/PowerPath start

Check to see if a new pseudo device appears:

[root@shcrm ~] # fdisk-l | grep emcpower
