Amazon continues to promote healthcare through the acquisition of a startup called Health Navigator, which provides technology and services to digital healthcare companies.

The US Consumer News and Business Channel contacted the e-commerce giant, which confirmed the acquisition and said Heath Navigator would be part of Amazon Care Group, which was recently founded by the US Consumer News and Business Channel. Amazon Care provides medical benefits to company employees through telemedicine, but can also make home visits when other care is needed.

An Amazon spokesman emailed more details about Amazon Care to the US Consumer News and Business Channel, saying:

Health care spending will increase by $750 billion in 2020, which is a huge opportunity for medical technology.

Microsoft has established a new partnership with Walgreens to further enter the field of health care.

"the service eliminates travel and waiting time, connects employees and their families to doctors or nurses through real-time chat or video, and provides door-to-door follow-up services for registered nurses, from immunization to instant detection of strep laryngitis."

Health Navigator currently employs about 12 people, making Amazon's second acquisition in healthcare much smaller than last year's $753 million acquisition of PillPack. The company has invested heavily in PillPack, but entering the Amazon market has proved difficult because other participants in the field have prevented it from accessing patient data or trying to hire its employees.

Health Navigator CEO David Thompson (David Thompson) founded the company in 2014 and is known for developing the Schmidt-Thompson agreement in healthcare. These protocols have now become the standard way for nurses and other hospital staff to direct patients to the right location through call centers.

By partnering with technology partners such as Microsoft and other healthcare companies, Health Navigator offers a number of services, such as symptom screening tools that help remote diagnosis, and the company can help patients determine whether to stay at home, see a doctor or go directly to the emergency room.

Neither Amazon nor Health Navigator has officially announced their acquisitions, but we are likely to hear more once the recently acquired companies become part of Amazon's Care.
