Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--

This article mainly explains "how to maintain the server". Interested friends may wish to take a look at it. The method introduced in this paper is simple, fast and practical. Let's let the editor take you to learn how to maintain the server.

1. Power control

Although a server is not as ferocious as an induction cooker, it is still a heavyweight electricity user compared to the weakness of ordinary PCs.

The most basic point of the server hardware application is to achieve the stability and continuity of the operation, and to maintain the stability of the hardware system, power stability is the foundation. In this way, when we arrange the power system inside the computer room, in addition to the adequate supply of electricity in the server room, we should also be equipped to cope with sudden power outages.

Assuming that a computer room has 100 servers with an average rated power of 500W, then a large UPS distribution cabinet with 96 high-specification UPS batteries can basically ensure that the machine will run as usual for 8 hours after the power is stopped (ideally, it is about 6.5h in practical application).

2. Temperature control

When most brands of servers in the market are running, if there is no other control equipment, the average temperature of the CPU is above 60 °C, and the internal temperature of the box is above 40 °C. when the concurrent processing is busy, the above two scales may have an improvement of about 10-20 °C, which is quite different from the theoretical description in the manual. If the server runs for an hour at the temperature of concurrent busy times, who knows what will happen next? Therefore, when we build a server operating environment, we must not forget the need to implement temperature control.

So, how do we establish a temperature-controlled environment? Use the air conditioning system!

If it is an IDC or ISP computer room with a large number of servers, be sure to set up one or two main central air conditioners that can ensure daily temperature control, and prepare one or two spare units of the same specification. If it is an air conditioner with less than ten air conditioners, at least prepare vertical or outdoor wall air conditioners with a total horsepower of more than 3 horsepower (do not use indoor wall air conditioners to avoid serious consequences of air conditioning leakage), and control the temperature of the computer room within 15-23 °C.

In addition, if it is a large computer room, it is best to be equipped with temperature sensors for monitoring.

3. Humidity control

The humidity control of the environment around the server is also very important.

Suppose the server runs normally in a relatively dry environment, so it is easy to generate static electricity when touching and rubbing around, especially around metal instruments. I believe we all know the impact of static electricity on the server. in case of carelessness, it is easy to cause current breakdown of capacitors or CPU and other important components, resulting in not only the collapse of the system, but also a great threat to the personal safety of operators.

The geographical condition of our country is the south tide and the north trunk line. In the computer room in the north, we try to put a humidifier in the computer room; in the south, especially in the computer room on the first floor, in addition to laying moistureproof materials under the floor in the large computer room, we had better also put some water-absorbing infrastructure such as lime sandbags to prevent the computer room from getting too wet. The humidity in the north and south computer rooms should be controlled between 45% and 55%.

In addition, on rainy days, it is best not to open the windows of the small computer room to prevent Rain Water from entering the house, causing unnecessary electric shock danger in the environment of the computer room, the secret part of the power facilities.

4. Fire insurance control

Many people may think that fire control is irrelevant, because many facilities in the computer room are made of insulating materials. But in fact, there have been a lot of fire accidents in the computer room. Wiring boards must choose those brands that are more formal, safe and reliable, it is best not to place testing wiring boards next to drinking fountains, electroplating and soldering work must be careful, and those who are addicted to smoking had better go downstairs to solve their needs.

Of course, after the human factors are solved, we have to deal with sudden and unknown environmental factors, and buildings without smoke sensors had better prepare an independent alarm device.

5. Lightning strike avoidance

Electronic equipment is very sensitive to lightning, if you don't pay attention to it, it may be dangerous.

Many buildings do not pay much attention to lightning protection facilities. if the computer room is in a building where there is no lightning rod, it is best to coordinate the property to install lightning protection equipment on the top floor of the building and direct the invading lightning to the earth.

6. Dustproof

The server is not only a high-performance machine, but also a fragile body. For servers in some computer rooms, due to being exposed to the air for a long time, when the dust mixed in the air enters into a certain amount, the fans in the machine can be overwhelmed and begin to strike; in addition, the entry of dust has a great loss on the life of most of the equipment in the mainframe, including motherboards and CPU.

Therefore, in the computer room, under conditional conditions, it is best to purchase a professional server cabinet; before entering the computer room, managers had better put on a disposable dust cover or clean slippers for personal use; in principle, the computer room does not accept visits from outsiders.

7. Avoid the light

Direct sunlight is very helpful to the increase of server temperature, but unfortunately, the higher the server temperature, the more prone to problems, which is very disadvantageous to the stability of the server system. In addition, direct sunlight is very aggressive to the display in the computer room-because of the direct sunlight, the life of the monitor can easily be halved or more.

When operating in IDC and ISP computer rooms, it is impossible to see a glimmer of sunshine that represents hope, so avoiding light is a good job.

In some small computer rooms, due to the rental cost of making the best use of space, the facilities in the room are relatively crowded, and there is likely to be a large window not far away; the environment in the computer room is very annoying for friends who yearn for freedom but have to sit in it for a long time. I don't know when to open the curtains and open the windows to feel the sunshine and fresh air. It is a good thing for people to feel sunshine, but it is a disaster for machines to feel sunshine.

Therefore, in the computer room where sunlight can shine directly through the window to the server, it is best to add a rule, that is, it is forbidden to open curtains and windows. However, the rules always have to be humanized and designed, taking into account the feelings of the computer room staff, it is best to divide a few free periods every day to let everyone take turns to go out for release.

8. Pressure control

Every server has a certain limit to the pressure, although it is an all-metal fuselage, but there is always a maximum value of pressure. Tower servers are generally vertical, even if horizontal cascading is used, because the single machine takes up too much space, the number of servers piled up will not be too large, and the pressure of the external environment involved is not big.

Generally better server chassis, take 1U rack chassis as an example, a 1U can actually withstand about 5-7 of the same specification weight (that is, 1U); some rack pallets with better strength, the pressure on the server is also basically between 6-8 1U servers.

Therefore, when setting the specifications of the cabinet, we must make a good budget not to put too many units in a single compartment.

9. Space control

The space control of the server is mainly for the convenience of planning and management, and there is also a small reason for the temperature control mentioned above to achieve better heat dissipation.

The messy placement of the server or the display of network cables everywhere, only from the direct sense of vision, there will be a sense of annoyance. When there is a problem with which server or part of the server one day, when we need to deal with it, it's called an affliction!

At this point, I believe you have a deeper understanding of "how to maintain the server". You might as well do it in practice. Here is the website, more related content can enter the relevant channels to inquire, follow us, continue to learn!
