Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--

This article will explain in detail about the use of linux's tailf command to track file output. The editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it for you as a reference. I hope you can get something after reading this article.

The tailf command is almost equivalent to tail-f, and strictly speaking should be more similar to tail-- follow=name. It can also continue to trace when the file is renamed, which is especially suitable for log file tracking (follow the growth of a log file). Unlike tail-f, if the file does not grow, it will not access the disk file. Tailf is especially suitable for tracking log files on laptops because it saves power and reduces disk access.

The tailf command is not a script, but a binary execution file compiled in C code, which is not available after some Linux installations.

Syntax format: tailf [parameters] [file]

Common parameters:

-n outputs the last few lines-NUMBER is the same as NUMBER-V outputs version information and exits-h displays help and exits

Reference example

Display the last five lines of the file:

[root@linuxcool] # tailf-n 5 log2014.log

Display the contents of the file:

[root@linuxcool ~] # tailf log/WEB.LOG about using the tailf command of linux to track the file output is shared here. I hope the above content can be helpful to everyone and learn more knowledge. If you think the article is good, you can share it for more people to see.
