Amazon is still the world's most popular supplier of smart speakers, but if you are looking for economical alternatives to "traditional" Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show or Echo Show 5, Google and Lenovo now have some sales options and discounts.

Technically, it's actually a popular new Lenovo smart clock from Best Buy (BBY) that charges $49.99 instead of $79.99, while 8-inch and 10-inch Lenovo smart displays can be bought from the same retailer for $89.99 and $139.99, respectively, less than $199.99 and $249.99.

Of course, all three devices are equipped with Google Assistant, hands-free voice commands, everything from music streaming to setting alarm clocks, answering questions by searching online, and controlling compatible smart home accessories.

It was only after the commercial launch a few months ago that CES 2019 announced in January that the ultra-compact Lenovo smart clock had received a $20 discount at Wal-Mart, meaning $49.99 was the new low-cost 5 competitor to Direct Echo Show. Keep in mind that the smart clock is actually a small 4-inch touch screen and a weak 3W speaker, and there is no camera. Amazon's smallest smart speaker with a display is still priced at $89.99.

At the same time, there is no doubt that Lenovo smart displays are a powerful alternative to the 10-inch Amazon Echo Display, valued at $230,$ 90 for 8-inch and $140for 10-inch sizes.

The larger model also comes with a stylish bamboo backplane and a clearer 1920 x 1200 screen. Both versions are equipped with a 5 million-pixel wide-angle front camera for hands-free video calls, and their audio functions are similar due to powerful 10W full-band speakers and a pair of passive tweeters. All in all, these are certainly not as good as AppleHomePod or Google Home Max, but they can also show you content and are cheap for a limited amount of time.
