How to realize the unified installation of software in the network environment is a thorny problem often encountered in network management, and this problem can be easily solved through group policy. The unified installation and deployment of software is a powerful function provided by group policy, but its disadvantage is that only installation packages with the extension of MSI can be distributed through group policy.

Experimental environment: two original clean virtual machines, one installed domain control server, the other as a client, and to join the domain.

The IP address of the domain control server is 192.168.15.7

The IP address of the client is: 192.168.15.5 the preferred dns is 192.168.15.7

The domain created on DC is 17w2.com

Prepare a software installation package

Objective: to realize the distribution software by using group policy.

The steps of the experiment:

1. Before configuring the server, create a folder on the DC called folder, and put the software that needs to be distributed into it, right-click the folder properties, and select share.

Give zhangsan and lisi read / write permissions, and then click share.

Since this shared folder is built on the desktop, also set NTFS permissions for them, right-click the folder selection Properties-> Select the Security tab, and click Edit.

4. Click add.

5.。 Enter "lisi" and click OK to set the appropriate NTFS permissions for lisi.

6. Then configure DC, select Active Directory users and computers in the administrative tools at the beginning, and configure DC here.

7. Create two new organizational units, renshibu and jishubu.

Create a user lisi under jishubu, create a user zhangsan under renshibu, and set a password for these two users.

9. After the creation is complete, open Group Policy Management at start-> Administrative tools-- as shown in the following figure

10. Right-click on the Group Policy object to create a new GOP named software, and click OK.

11. Right-click software and click "Edit" to enter the Group Policy Management Editor.

twelve。 In the Group Policy Editor, open user configuration-- > policies-- > Software Settings-- > Software installation, and right-click on it and select New-- > package command.

13. Find the software you want to distribute in the dialog box that opens, and note that the path to the software must use the UNC path, as shown in the figure

14. Click Button to open the Select Software deployment method dialog box, where you want to select assigned. (assigned objects can be computers or mobile domain users, while published objects can only be domain users.)

15. Here, you want domain users to automatically install the entire software when they log in, not just the relevant information, so you also need to open the software's property settings interface and select "install this application at login" in the "deployment options". Then click apply.

16. In this way, the software is distributed.

17. Go back to Group Policy, and then you can hold down the left button and drag GPO software to the organizational units jishubu and renshubu, and Group Policy will take effect on the corresponding objects.

18. Take the login verification on the client respectively and find that the distributed software is being installed at this time.

Then open the client and find that it has been successfully installed.

What you need to pay attention to in the experiment is the path of UNC:

The first way:\ ip address\ shared folder name\. \ file name

The second way:\ computer name\ shared folder name\. \ file name

If the software is not installed successfully, it may be due to the following reasons:

(1) the group policy has not yet taken effect. You can execute the command gpupdate / force on the client side

(2) the client computer has installed the software or the software that has been installed. As long as the software installation information is found in the registry, the system will not execute the software installation policy.
