Friends who use the win10 system more or less know that Onedrive is a service that comes with the win10 system. With the development of information technology, OneDrive in the Windows10 era is not only a network storage application, but also upgraded to a high level of cloud synchronization, which can upload and synchronize our data. When we use the same Microsoft account to log in to different Win10 devices, our settings and other personal data can be synchronized seamlessly, thanks to OneDrive. However, some users may want to disable OneDrive for reasons such as privacy or traffic, so let's take a look at how Win10 systems disable OneDrive.
Method 1: disable OneDrive using group policy
Tip: this method is suitable for Win10 Professional Edition / Enterprise Edition / Education Edition with Group Policy Editor.
We found Microsoft Xiaona in the lower left corner of the desktop to search for "gpedit" and click to open the edit group policy. Or directly use the keyboard shortcut "Win+R", directly call up "run" and enter the "gpedit" command.
Navigate to the following location: computer configuration-Administrative templates-Windows components-OneDrive, and then find the "disable the use of OneDrive for file storage" configuration item in the right window, and double-click. As shown in the figure:
In the next pop-up window, double-click the configuration item to open the editing window and configure it to "enabled" to determine.
Through the above steps, the integration of OneDrive and Windows10 in the system has been successfully disabled, and you will find that the OneDrive icon in the system tray notification area in the lower right corner of the screen has disappeared, and the OneDrive has also disappeared in the navigation pane on the official left side of File Explorer.
Method 2: modify the registry to disable OneDrive
This method applies to all Win10 versions, but mainly because the Win10 Home Edition does not have a Group Policy Editor, you can do the same by modifying the registry.
Right-click the start button, select the run menu item from the pop-up menu, you can open the run window, enter the command regedit in the text box, and then click the OK button.
Open the Registry Editor and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Policies\ Microsoft\ Windows\ OneDrive
PS: in view of the risks of modifying the registry, it is recommended to back up the registry before modification (the method of backing up the registry), or to create a system restore point so that it can be restored if there is a problem.
If there is no OneDrive item, you can create a new item under the Windows entry and name it OneDrive.
Right-click the start button, select the run menu item from the pop-up menu, you can open the run window, enter the command regedit in the text box, and then click the OK button.
Select the OneDrive item, right-click in the right window, select "New-DWORD (32-bit) value" and name it DisableFileSyncNGSC. Double-click the value to open the editing window, set the numeric data to 1, and then click the OK button to apply the changes.
If you want to restore the OneDrive function later, change the numerical data of the DisableFileSyncNGSC value to 0, or delete the value directly.
Method 3:
When synchronization settings are turned on, Windows will synchronize the settings you have selected on all Windows 10 devices you have logged in to your Microsoft account.
Be careful
If you log in using a work or school account linked to your Microsoft account, synchronization settings also apply.
If synchronization settings are not available on your device, your organization may not allow this feature.
To find synchronization settings, select the start button, and then select Settings > account > synchronize your settings.
Because my computer logs in every time it is turned on, and if there is no network, a dialog box will pop up to indicate a network connection error, so I think Microsoft has designed the option of boot-up. Sure enough, I found a solution.
Find a cloud-like icon in the lower right corner, click on it with the right button, and click Settings.
Find the corresponding location here in the settings interface, and uncheck the boot option.
