Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--
This article is about how to migrate from Win2000 domain to win2003 domain. The editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it with you. I hope you can get something after reading this article. Let's take a look at it with the editor.
1. Upgrade the schema information of AD on Server to Windows Server version 2003, which is required before introducing Windows Server 2003 domain controllers. Steps:
(1) Log in to Server as a domain administrator. Insert Windows Server 2003 CD on Server and open a command prompt.
(2) locate the optical drive at the command prompt, such as X: disk.
(3) enter CD\ I386 to enter the source file directory of Windows Server 2003 CD.
(3) enter adprep / forestprep and enter to execute. This command will extend the AD forest architecture information to confirm that you have successfully completed this command.
(4) enter adprep / domainprep and enter to execute. This command prepares for the introduction of Windows Server 2003 domain controllers. Confirm that you have successfully completed this command.
two。 To install a new Windows Server 2003 server, you can choose the IP, for example, 192.168.20.21Universe 255.255.255.0, the gateway remains the same, and the DNS points to 192.168.20.20. At the same time, install the latest Service Pack and patches, antivirus software and so on, according to the company's requirements, and then connect to your local area network.
3. Log in as an administrator on the new server (assuming the server name is Server2) and perform the following steps:
(1) on Server2, click the start button, click run, type DCPromo, and then click OK.
(2) after the Active Directory installation Wizard appears, click next to start the installation.
(3) read the operating system compatibility information, and then click next to continue.
(4) on the Domain Controller Type page, select extra Domain controllers for existing domains, and then click next to continue installing Active Directory.
(5) in the "Network credentials" box, enter "Administrator" as the user name, do not enter the password, type the domain name (such as abc.com), and then click next.
(6) on the additional Domain Controller page, enter the domain name, and then click next to continue.
(7) in the NetBIOS Domain name box, accept the default value, and then click next.
(8) on the Database and Login location page, accept the default values, and then click next.
(9) on the shared system volumes page, accept the default values, and then click next.
(10) on the Administrator password for Directory Service restore Mode page, type the password in restore Mode password and confirm password (you don't have to enter it). Click next to continue.
(11) confirm the options selected on the Summary page, and then click next to start configuring Active Directory.
(12) after completing the Active Directory installation Wizard, click finish, and then click restart now to restart the system.
4. After reboot, Server2 will act as an "extra domain controller in the domain" (replication will take place in the background), but it will not affect our current operation. Please log in to Server2 as a domain administrator. Install the DNS service, and at the same time, make sure that the DNS area on the Server is a "AD integration area". If you are interested in this piece of content, you can refer to:
KB 227844 Primary and Active Directory Integrated Zones Differences
Http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;227844
5. If all the DNS areas on Server are AD integration areas, then you don't need to do anything else, and after a while, the area information will be copied to your Server2 (provided that your Server2 has DNS services installed).
6. It is recommended that you wait one or two days to complete the synchronization of the two domain controllers. You can then perform the following steps:
(1) check whether the data on both sides has been synchronized, and point the DNS IP address used by Server2 to your own IP address.
(2) point the DNS IP address used on the client to the IP address of Server2. (if there are more clients, you can take your time. Server is still alive anyway.)
(3) if you install and use DHCP on Server, you need to migrate it to Server2 as follows:

(4) transfer all "operations host roles" to Server2 on Server according to the following KB method, and don't forget to identify Server2 as GC:
KB 255690 HOW TO: view and transfer FSMO roles in the graphical user interface
Http://support.microsoft.com/?id=255690
(5) Congratulations, you can run dcpromo on Server to downgrade this domain controller to a normal server in the domain. Note: when downgrading, do not check the "this is the last domain controller in the domain" option.
The above is how to migrate from Win2000 domain to Win2003 domain. The editor believes that there are some knowledge points that we may see or use in our daily work. I hope you can learn more from this article. For more details, please follow the industry information channel.
