Problem description

Isn't it particularly annoying when managing a SCCM server (mine is SCCM 1606) if the following prompt pops up every time you run Configuration Manager Console?

Unable to check for updates for Configuration Manager. Keep your Configuration Manager installation up-to-date by adding a "Service Connection Point role" by selecting "Add Site System Roles" under Administration workspace, selecting Overview, selecting Site Configuration, and clicking on Site.

Solution method

According to the English prompt, it is obvious that we need to set up the Service Connection Point role in SCCM. We do not want the SCCM server to be updated automatically. We will update it manually when needed. After all, security and stability is the most important thing in a production environment, so it is generally set to Offline.

1. After clicking OK in the prompt, enter SCCM Configuration Manager, then administrator-Overviewer-Site Configuration-Sites-Add Site System Roles:

two。 Keep the default setting Next in the pop-up dialog box:

3. Default all the way to System Roles Selection-Service connection point-Next:

4. Select Offline, on-demand connection-Next:

5. Then Next-Close all the way:

7. Close the SCCM Configuration Manager and open it again, go directly to the host side, and there is no longer a prompt.
