­as the most popular mobile operating system in the world, Android is about to launch a new "DNS over TLS" security protocol to prevent users from being secretly observed by Internet service providers (ISP). In short, the protocol can put a layer of encryption on users' requests to the domain name server (DNS), making it impossible for ISP to start in most cases. The working mode of DNS is to parse the URL into a real IP address that can be recognized by the computer, and then feed it back to the querying party; facades such as "* *. Com" (Web address) are only for the convenience of users' memory and use.

­normally, the server can resolve the domain name in a few nanoseconds. Unfortunately, the process is likely to be spied on by people with ulterior motives (such as ISP) to let them know which sites you have visited, because the relevant information is transmitted in clear text.

­the current DNS scheme uses the UDP or TCP protocol instead of the more secure TLS. However, after Android enables the new protocol, you can still get the same correct query results, but it is as secure as the secure Hypertext transfer Protocol (HTTPs).

­it is important to note that if the DNS you choose does not support the TLS protocol, then ISP can still traverse your browsing history. The good news is that you can switch to a domain name protocol service that supports TLS, such as Google DNS.

­of course, from the perspective of DNS service providers, your browsing history is still transparent to them. If you want to protect your privacy more strictly, you have to put on another layer of virtual private network.

Finally, according to the description on the Android open source project (AOSP), this feature should come with Android 8.1.
