Blockstack how to solve the problem of centralized storage, I believe that many inexperienced people do not know what to do, so this paper summarizes the causes of the problem and solutions, through this article I hope you can solve this problem.
In order to enable users to control their own data, and strictly associate their own data with the user identity. Blockstack provides decentralized storage system (Gaia) and blockchain naming system (blockchain naming system or BNS).
At present, Gaia is not a decentralized system; the so-called decentralization is just the decentralization defined and understood by Blockstack itself, which is different from the understanding of IPFS, which requires, understanding and understanding.
Users can log in to Blockstack App using the digital identity provided by BNS. User data will be strongly associated with the user public key. App will read and write data to Gaia hub on behalf of the user (if and only if the user allows it). All user data will be transferred to their own Gaia hub.
Gaia hub can be owned by the user, or you can use the default storage space provided by Blockstack. Blockstack by default, hub is used to store user data encrypted by the user's public key. In this way, only encrypted data blocks can be seen in the storage.
Introduction to Gaia
A Gaia is completely user-owned storage, and the user decides who can see it and write it to the storage. They can change the storage at any time. It is a distributed high-performance storage system based on driver model, which supports many storage services. With little work, developers can implement storage for Dropbox, azure, and S3 through Gaia.
The main difference between Gaia vs IPFS:Gaia and IPFS is that Gaia users have control over their data, but there is an open network in IPFS where your data is placed on different people's devices.
How does Blockstack app store data and how do users control their own data?
Suppose Alice is now using a Blockstack message App. She uses her own Gaia service to interact with her own public key. Bob has the same App. Both Alice and Bob want to communicate with each other. In order to communicate with each other, there must be a read / write path between Alice's Gaia service and Bob's Gaia service.
The question arises, how does Blockstack App interact with Gaia storage, and how does Gaia provide full control to users?
URL is defined for both the user and the storage backend. Blockstack App defines the URL path that the user stores. It reads and writes from different stores according to the user, which allows the user to control the data. Lookup paths allow users to control and store their data.
Note:
Gaia is not decentralized storage
Gaia solves the problem of users controlling their own data.
Gaia solves the problem of user-defined storage
# from my personal point of view, many people asked me why I should learn and study Gaia since it is not decentralized storage. What I want to express is that Gaia does solve a certain problem, and we should not deliberately use unsolved problems to resist technologies that have solved problems.
After reading the above, have you mastered how Blockstack solves the problem of centralized storage? If you want to learn more skills or want to know more about it, you are welcome to follow the industry information channel, thank you for reading!
