Install Yoda, command line personal assistant.

Yoda requires Python 2 and PIP. If you do not have PIP installed in your Linux, please refer to the guide below to install it. Just make sure that python2-pip is installed. Yoda may not support Python 3.

How to use pip to manage Python packages

Note: I suggest you try Yoda in the Python virtual environment. Not just Yoda, you should always try any Python application in a virtual environment so that they don't interfere with globally installed packages. You can set up the virtual environment as described in the section entitled "creating a Virtual Environment" in the link above.

After installing pip on your system, use the following command to clone the Yoda library.

$git clone https://github.com/yoda-pa/yoda

The above command creates a directory called yoda in the current working directory and clones everything in it. Go to the yoda directory:

$cd yoda/

Run the following command to install the Yoda application.

$pip install.

Please note the dot (.) of *. All necessary packages will now be downloaded and installed.

Configure Yoda

First, set up the configuration to save your information on the local system.

Run the following command:

$yoda setup new

Fill in the following questions:

Enter your name:Senthil KumarWhat's your email id? [email protected] What's your github username?skEnter your github password:Password:Where shall your config be stored? (Default: ~ / .yoda /) A configuration file already exists. Are you sure you want to overwrite it? (YBO) y

Your password is encrypted and saved in the configuration file, so don't worry.

To check the current configuration, run:

$yoda setup check

You will see the following output.

Name: Senthil KumarEmail: sk@senthilkumar.comGithub username: sk

By default, your information is stored in the ~ / .yoda directory.

To delete an existing configuration:

$yoda setup delete usage

Yoda contains a simple chat robot. You can use the following chat command to interact with it.

$yoda chat who are you

Sample output:

Yoda speaks:I'm a virtual agent $yoda chat how are youYoda speaks:I'm doing very well. Thanks!

Test network speed

Let's ask Yoda about the speed of the Internet. Run:

Manage personal diaries

We can also keep personal diaries to record important events.

Use the command to create a new journal:

$yoda diary nnInput your entry for note:Today I learned about Yoda

To create a new note, run the above command again.

View all notes:

$yoda diary notesToday's notes:- Time | Note- |-16:41:41 | Today I learned about Yoda

Not just notes, Yoda can also help you create tasks.

To create a new task, run:

$yoda diary ntInput your entry for task:Write an article about Yoda and publish it on OSTechNix

To view the task list, run:

As you can see above, I have an unfinished task. To mark it as completed, run the following command and enter the completed task serial number and press enter:

You can use the command to analyze tasks for the current month at any time:

Sometimes, you may want to record a profile about someone you love or admire.

Take notes about your lover

First, you need to set up the configuration to store the details of your friends. Please run:

$yoda love setup

Enter your friend's details:

To view the details of this person, run:

$yoda love status {'place':' Rameswaram', 'name':' Abdul Kalam', 'sex':' M'}

To add your lover's birthday:

You can even add notes about that person:

Yoda helps you learn random English words and track your progress.

To learn a new word, type:

$yoda vocabulary word

It will display a word at random. Press enter to show the meaning of the word. Once again, Yoda asks if you already know the meaning of the word. If you already know, please enter "Yes". If you do not know, please enter "No". This can help you track your progress. Use the following command to know your progress.

$yoda vocabulary accuracy
