Preliminary preparation:

1. Server system: dell M630 windows 2012 R2 operating system (activated, network card driver on)

Assign IP:192.168.60.233

2. Storage array: dell MD3800i (capacity 6Tx10, raid card x2, management port x2)

Service port allocation IP:192.168.60.238 and 192.168.60.239

Management port IP:192.168.129.101 and 192.168.129.102

3. Use modular disk storage manager to do raid 6 to the storage array. (two spare disks. )

4. The server can ping the storage array service port IP.

6. The management port IP can also be connected with ping.

Action:

The first step is to configure the iscsi target on the server

1. Enter the "Administrative tools" window of the server system, and open the "iSCSI initiator" on both computers.

2. In the "iSCSI initiator Properties" window, "Discovery" page, click "Discovery Portal", enter the storage array business port IP:192.168.60.238 in the "IP address or DNS name" dialog box, and click "OK".

3. In the "iSCSI initiator Properties" window, "targets" page, in the "discovered targets" dialog box, you can see the found targets. For example, the name of the target is a string that begins with iqn.1991-05.com, and the status is unconnected

4, in the "iSCSI initiator properties" window, "targets" page, in the "discovered targets" dialog box, select the discovered targets, click "connect", the default is to check "system restart automatic connection target", and then click "OK", the status of the discovered targets becomes "connected".

The second step is to log in to modular disk storage manager through the management port IP:192.168.129.101 of the storage array and map the virtual disk to the server

1. On the login page, enter your user name and password to enter the modular disk storage manager management interface.

2. On the "device" page, right-click the root of the tree structure and select automatic scanning to discover online storage arrays, such as MD3800i, while ensuring that the device is in good condition.

3. Load the configuration page of MD3800i for dual-computer MD3800i, and wait for the page to load successfully.

4. On the "Mapping" page, right-click to add hosts on the default group, select iSCSI for mapping method, select windows for operating system, associate the added targets in the first step, and assign a unique identifier to the newly added hosts, such as ceshi.

5. In the "physical" interface, right-click on the unallocated virtual disk space to create a new virtual disk with the required space, such as 30T, and assign the new virtual disk a unique identifier, such as test.

6. On the "Mapping" page, right-click the newly added ceshi host and associate the new virtual disk test.

The third step is to enter the "disk Management" window of the server system to see the virtual disks successfully mapped by iscsi, such as 30T of unallocated space. Initialize the formatted partition and then use it. If you find that it does not come out, you can right-click on "disk Management" and select the "rescan disk" command to swipe it several times.

Unfinished: if ipsan is multi-controller, you can set multi-path. (windows server 2008 R2 requires MP to be installed in "turn Windows features on or off")
