Because after exiting the container with exit, the container will be closed. So, if you want to re-enter the container, you need docker start [container_name], and then docker attach [container_name] to enter the container.

If you want to exit without closing the container: press Ctrl+P+Q to exit the container (note the uppercase P and Q), and then docker attach [container_name] to enter the container.

Or first use docker ps-a to find the corresponding stopped container id, and then use docker start-ia
