Microsoft has two main considerations: reducing system resource consumption and improving system security.

1) Reduce the consumption of system resources.

The release of Windows Vista dealt Microsoft a big blow. Many customers who buy Windows Vista licenses downgrade their Windows XP systems, including Microsoft's own admission that Windows Vista is a failure. The main reason for the failure was that Microsoft compromised hardware manufacturers too much, resulting in too high hardware requirements for Windows Vista.

Windows Server 2008 took this as a lesson, so in Windows Server 2008 more Server Core mode (personal guess)

We can imagine an enterprise environment, if the company has a server, only 2GB of memory, if installed in full mode, as long as the computer as soon as the boot 1GB memory is consumed by the system, such a situation is not acceptable to many companies. If Server Core is installed, the system boots up to 256MB of memory, so that excess memory can be saved for user access. This is a good way to increase the number and speed of user visits.

1. Install Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core System

Go to Server Core System to install two components Microsoft.net FrameWork 2.0 and Windows Powershell. The order reads as follows:

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx2-ServerCore

4. Insert the downloaded CoreConfigrator 2.0 ISO file into the system. Run Start_CoreConfig.wsf in the image to display the CoreConfig 2.0 administration interface

Windows Server 2008 (R2) Server Core:

Windows Server 2008 (R2) Server Core is generally used as a company's basic application platform, and is generally not used as an application platform.

Recommended Server Core servers: File Server ,DC, DNS,CA, DHCP,Hyper-v .

Server platforms that cannot be used: SQL Server ,Exchange Server ,RDP Server, etc.

Windows Server 2008 (R2) Server Core can be used as a Web Server background, but note:
