In this partial article, we will talk about how to install and deploy VCSA 6.5.

First of all, open the downloaded VCSA 6.5 installation package, and you can know the files and functions of each path of the VCSA installation package and the installation method through the Readme notepad in the root directory.

Navigate to the vcsa-ui-installer\ win32 folder and execute Install.exe

Open the installer for VCSA 6.5 and select install

Click next in the introduction

Accept the license terms

Select "vCenter Server with embedded Platform Services Controller deployment" in the deployment type; deploy PSC and vCenter Server on one server in most environments and scenarios to meet the requirements

Specify the ESXI host running the VCSA in the specified deployment target and enter the user name and password. It is important to note that virtual hardware version 10 is deployed on vCenter Server Appliance version 6.5, so the deployment target must be able to run virtual hardware version 10.

Next it will find the certificate of the ESXI host, click Yes

Next, specify the virtual machine name (non-system name) of the VCSA VM in the ESXI host and the root password of the VCSA SUSE.

Next, you can choose the deployment size. In VCSA6.5, you can control the size of the VCSA by deployment size and storage size, and its corresponding capacity can be found in the resources below.

CPU and memory can be easily adjusted later for the size of the VCSA virtual machine, so the disk space size is the main consideration when deciding the deployment size. The storage requirements vary for each vSphere environment and depend on the database size requirements.

Note that the storage requirement for Platform Services Controller devices is 60 GB. One of the reasons for the increased storage requirements for VCSA 6.5 is that the storage requirements include the requirements that VMware Update Manager needs to meet to run as a service in vCenter Server Appliance.

As an experimental environment, we choose small, but it is recommended to configure vCenter HA on at least a small or larger scale.

Select the disk space to be stored according to your needs

Next, configure the relevant network information in the network settings, where the network can only specify the port group on the standard switch, not the port group on the distributed switch. System name for implementing vCenter HA, you must enter the full FQDN and the FQDN can be parsed forward and reverse on the DNS

Confirm the configuration information and click finish

Next, the installer will automatically deploy the system to the specified ESXI host

After the upload is completed, the system will install and deploy automatically.

Wait a moment for VCSA has been uploaded and the components have been installed. Note that this is only the first stage for the VCSA 6.5 installation step. Click continue and there are other steps to configure.

You can see that the second step in configuring VCSA 6.5 is to configure information related to SSO.

Next, configure the NTP server to ensure that time synchronization is important to the environment. As prompted below, if you need to configure VCSA HA mode to enable SSH access

Next, configure the information of the SSO domain, in which the SSO domain name and site name are filled in according to the actual plan.

Choose whether or not to join the customer experience improvement Program

Click finish to confirm the configuration information

Click OK in the pop-up prompt to continue with the configuration work

Next, set the SSO domain according to the setting.

Waiting for the progress configuration to be completed, you can see from the prompt below that VCSA 6.5 has two management interfaces; one is the vSphere Web Client, which is the vCenter management interface, and the other is the management interface of the SUSE device of this VCSA.
