Vivo announced the launch of its first AR glasses in MWC Shanghai. This prototype, Vivo AR Glass for short, is a relatively thin headset with two transparent LCD screens and six degrees of freedom tracking. Cables connected to Vivo's unnamed 5G smartphone are also on display this week.

Vivo said that AR Glass now has five use cases: games, office, "5G cinema", face recognition, and object recognition. A promotional video released by the company shows users playing games at the table, being told the names of acquaintances and sitting on the sofa surrounded by virtual jellyfish.

Vivo AR Glass has yet to provide any pricing or release information, but 5G phones will be released in the third quarter of this year. Vivo's announcement is part of a strategic shift to a new brand that will offer products such as smartwatches, AR glasses and headphones to keep pace with 5G smartphones.
