Again, the Gnumeric project provides a simple spreadsheet application. Gnumeric avoids any features that spreadsheets don't need in the strict sense, so you can still get powerful formula syntax, a large number of functions, and all the options for styling and manipulating cells. I don't use spreadsheets very much, so I find myself quite satisfied with Gnumeric when I rarely need to view or process the data in the ledger.

Pandoc

It can be minimized through specialized commands and file handlers. The pandoc command is dedicated to file conversion. It's like the libreoffice-- headless command, except that it processes ten times as many document formats. You can even use it to generate presentations!
