The Windows 10 system was first released five years ago. Today's Windows 10 system is constantly updated and evolved, but the design hasn't changed much, and now Microsoft is officially starting to make changes.
In a recent Windows Insiders broadcast, Microsoft unveiled its new vision of the start menu, which emphasizes smooth icon-based design of tiles. The new start menu is likely to make its debut next year, and Microsoft plans to make modern upgrades to other areas of the operating system.
Panos Panay, chief product officer of Microsoft, today announced a new UI interface for Windows 10 to celebrate the use of Windows 10 by 1 billion users.
The trailer released by Microsoft includes modern designs for File Explorer, context menus, photo applications, calculators, and the start menu.
As you can see in the GIF above, Microsoft is testing the redesigned "start" menu, which will no longer emphasize its current "dynamic tile" interface, but will become a standard tile with a translucent background.
The start menu will include fewer color tiles in the updated interface, and dynamic information doesn't seem to be the focus, but that doesn't mean the company will cancel dynamic tiles any time soon.
According to IT House, these changes are intended to make the interface look more modern by eliminating unnecessary UI elements and clutter. Microsoft recently launched a new batch of app icons for Windows 10, and the start menu will use these new color icons.
There is also a new file explorer that looks similar to what we have seen on Windows 10X. It uses OneDrive's web experience layout and icons, and at least for now, it doesn't seem to replace the current file explorer. You can check out the "Microsoft Win10X New Modern File Explorer experience: fresh and smooth Design".
Surprisingly, Microsoft is also developing an updated UI for the context menu, which looks more consistent across the operating system.
You can access the context menu by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop, and it has new options to help you browse between files, open a Web browser, and access tabs in File Explorer.
It is worth noting that Microsoft is still developing Windows 10 modern UI, which is not yet available for Windows Insider testing and push for ordinary users.
