This article is about how to easily complete Linux burning CD-ROM data CD, the editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it with you to learn. I hope you can get something after reading this article, not to say much, follow the editor to have a look.

Now is the era of the network society, leading to many people begin to learn computer knowledge, and Linux is becoming more and more mainstream, do you know Linux system? Are you the user of Linux system? How can Linux burn CD-ROM data CDs in Linux environment? I hope you learn to burn CD-ROM data CDs with Linux.

In the early days, CD-ROMs were made in a command-line way, but because most computer enthusiasts are not familiar with Unix, it is more complicated to burn CDs under the command line. Later, with the development of X-Window under Linux, we can also use GUI graphical user interface to burn CDs under Linux. The following is a detailed description of the command line and the process of burning data CDs under the graphical user interface.

CD burning in command line mode

Under the Linux environment, the data CD can be made by command line. When making a CD-ROM data CD, it is usually divided into the following steps:

1. Confirm that the kernel currently used by the Linux host supports SCSI or SCSI emulation

two。 Make sure the cdrecord tool is installed

3. If you are currently using a disc with IDE interface for recording, make sure that the kernel should support the generic SCSI driver

4. Make a data CD image

5. Test CD image

6. Burn the image file to a CD.

If the Linux system has met the above 1-3 conditions, then you can start data CD production on the command line. To burn a data CD (in ISO format) on the command line, you usually use the following commands:

First, generate an image file of the CD. The format of the image file is ISO format. The command method is as follows:

# mkisofs-r-o cdrom_img.iso / mydir

Description: by processing the files in the / mydir directory, you can generate an image file, cdrom_img.iso, and test the generated image file:

# mount-t iso9660-o ro,loop=/dev/loop0 cdrom_img.iso / mnt/cdrom

# cd / mnt/cdrom

# ls-l

After making the ISO image file of the CD, you need to check it. In the Linux environment, the ISO format of the CD can be mirrored mount to a directory of the system, and verify the CD ISO image as shown in figure 1.

If you are satisfied with the contents of the CD image and check that the data file in the CD is completely correct, you can burn the image file to the CD.

First, scan the burner device number:

# cdrecord-scanbus

The scan results will automatically find the equipment number of the burner. For example, when burning a disc with the device number dev=6,0, type the following command:

# cdrecord-v speed=4 dev=6,0 cdrom_img.iso

After waiting for dozens of minutes, the data CD was burned successfully.

If you want to make a bootable data CD, such as making your own distribution, you should add the boot disk to the CD and first make a bootable floppy disk:

# mkbootdisk

Then, copy the floppy disk image to the hard disk directory / mydir:

# dd / dev/fd0 / mydir/boot.img

Then create an ISO image with the following command:

# mkisofs-r-b / mydir/boot.img-o cdrom_img.iso / mydir

Description: the files in the / mydir directory are made into an image file, and the CD is required to be self-bootable. The boot floppy disk image file is the boot.img file placed in the / mydir directory.

GUI CD burning tool

In the Linux environment, the command line format is usually used when burning data CDs in ISO format. This is very inconvenient, and we want to find a GUI tool that can burn data CD under the window manager.

GUI interface data CD burning program, the most famous is the X-CD-Roast tool. In fact, it is a graphic wrapper (Wrap) that burns CDs on the command line. When actually burning the disc, all the applications in the command line mode are also called. So, to use X-CD-Roast to burn CDs, you also need to install the cdrecord package. The X-CD-Roast burning process is actually exactly the same as that of burning a CD on the command line, except that the user does not know that it also needs to make an ISO file before calling cdrecord to burn it. All the processes are done in the background through X-CD-Roast. Fig. 2 is an illustration of using X-CD-Roast to burn a data disc.

With X-CD-Roast, users can burn their own discs as easily as using EasyCD in the Windows environment. X-CD-Roast can automatically detect SCSI and IDE interfaces, support ISO9660 data CD and Audio format, and quickly burn CD without hard disk Buffering. It also has Logfile function and supports almost all kinds of CD-R and CD-RW burners.

The X-CD-Roast package can be found in http://www.xcdroast.org. The current * * version is xcd-roast0.98alpha10 .tar.gz, which requires a later version of cdrtools1.11a19.

The procedure for installing xcd-roast0.98 is as follows:

# tar-zxvf xcd-roast0.98alpha10.tar.gz #. / configure # make # make install

To use X-CD-Roast burning software, execute xcdroast directly under xterm.

# xcdroast&

Note: if you simply use X-CD-Roast to burn a disc, the machine must first meet the first three conditions for burning on the command line.

The use of X-CD-Roast is very simple, there is a simplified Chinese version, this article will no longer describe. Generally speaking, X-CD-Roast is a good burning software.

In addition, you can use the KOnCD CD burning kit to burn the disc, as shown in figure 3. At present, the integration of KDE environment is getting higher and higher, and CD burning tools can be provided. KOnCD focuses on CD copy, data CD production, music CD production and other tools, is a highly integrated gadget, the current version is 1.1. Friends who like to use the KDE window manager can try using this graphical interface tool to burn CDs.

There are other applications to choose from for burning data CD in Linux environment, but almost all the burning programs of GUI interface are based on the principle of package, so they all need to call cdrecord to burn CD.

The above is how to easily complete Linux burning CD-ROM data CD, the editor believes that there are some knowledge points that we may see or use in our daily work. I hope you can learn more from this article. For more details, please follow the industry information channel.
