IP SLA is the abbreviation of Internet Protocol Service-Level Agreement, which means Internet protocol service level agreement.

There are three main applications of IP SLA:

1. Floating static route next hop detection.

2.HSRP outgoing interface detection.

3.PBR policy routing next hop detection.

To put it simply, use the following various ways to test reliability, which is mainly explained by icmp ping testing below.

Create a SLA entry

(config-sla-monitor) # type echo protocolipicmpecho 24.1.1.4 source-interface s1max 0

Set the test type to icmp ping, test the connectivity to 24.1.1.4, and use the source interface of S1UniMax 0.

(config-sla-monitor-echo) # frequency 5

Set the frequency to 5 seconds per packet

(config-sla-monitor-echo) # threshold 2

Set the threshold to 2 times

(config-sla-monitor-echo) # timeout 1000

Unit is ms, timeout is 1s

(config) # ip sla monitor schedule 124 start-timenow life forever

Set sla to take effect immediately, with unlimited validity (default is 3600s)

(config) # track 124 rtr 124 reachability

Set track entry and lsa entry association, track reachability

(config) # ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 12.1.1.210 track 124

Set the route ad value to 10 and use track entry 124 to monitor

Attach the relevant configuration of R1:

Experimental results:

Show track and show ip sla monitor configuration can be used to verify the experimental results. From 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.2.0, R1-R2-R4 is used by default. When R2 interface S1Univer1 or R4 interface S1Univer1 is in down state, it will go the other way R1-R3-R4.
