Introduction of picture and text:
What is DPS?
The official definition is:
The IoT Central equipment provisioning Service is a helper service for IoT centers that enables zero-contact real-time provisioning to appropriate IoT centers without human intervention, making it easy for customers to provision millions of devices in a secure and scalable manner.
Draw the key points, 1. Is a supporting service of IoT Hub; 2. You don't have to think that you can register an IoT device by configuring it in IoT Hub. Secure, scalable, millions.
In what scenarios do you need DPS?
Zero contact pre-provisioned to a single IoT solution, eliminating the need to hard-code IoT central connection information at factory (initial setup)
Load balancing devices across multiple centers
Connect the device to its owner's IoT solution (multi-tenant) based on sales transaction data
Connect devices to specific IoT solutions based on use cases (solution isolation)
Connect the device to the IoT center with the lowest latency (offsite sharding)
Reconfigure according to the changes in the equipment
Scroll the key used by the device to connect to the IoT center (when connecting without an X.509 certificate)
Principle schematic diagram
The device manufacturer adds the device registration information to the registration list in the Azure portal.
The device contacts the pre-configured service endpoint set at the factory. The device transmits the identification information to the preconfigured service to prove its identity.
The provisioning service verifies the identity of the device by using the nonce Challenge (trusted platform module) or the standard X.509 authentication (X.509) to verify the registration ID and key against the registration list key.
The provisioning service registers the device with IoT Central and populates the required twin state of the device.
The IoT center returns the device ID information to the provisioning service.
The provisioning service returns the IoT central connection information to the device. The device can now start sending data directly to the IoT center.
The device is connected to the IoT center.
The device acquires the desired state from its device twins in the IoT center.
Practice: create Azure IoT Hub and IoT DPS services and link IoT Hub to DPS services
Prepare for work 1, register for IoT Hub
Create a new IoT Center in the resource group
In this example, select the 2 regions of eastern China that are close to the author, enter the name of IoT Hub, and click create.
An IoT Hub for S1 is created by default.
Preparation 2, sign up for DPS service
Create "IoT Central equipment provisioning Service" in the resource group
The location is also East China 2, enter the name of DPS, and click create.
Prepare work 3 to link IoT Hub to the DPS service
Go to the DPS service, click "linked IoT Center" and click add.
Select the IoT center to be added under the current subscription, select "iothubowner" as the access policy, and click Save.
Note that multiple IoT Hub can be added here, that is, one DPS can pre-configure devices to multiple IoT Hub.
