First open VMware Workstation software, select Create New Virtual Machine, we will enter the New Virtual Machine Wizard interface, in this interface we need to select the installation source. Here Xiaobian suggests that you choose the third type [install the operating system later].

Next is to choose Linux operating system, and version selection CentOS6, this version takes up less resources, suitable for beginners to use.

Name the virtual machine and choose where to store it. The system here generally defaults to C disk, but Xiaobian recommends that you do not store it in C disk. If C disk stores a large number of files, our computer will become very stuck.

Allocate hard disk space for virtual machines. The maximum amount of hard disk space that can be allocated depends on the size of the real computer's hard disk. 20GB is usually enough for us. After selecting the hard disk space, click Next to check the virtual machine information.

Click [Edit Virtual Machine Settings] to configure the virtual machine. The memory here is at least 628MB. The CPU of the processor can be selected according to the computer configuration. If you think there is not enough hard disk, you can add it here. In addition, click [Use ISO Image File] in CD/DVD (IDE) to select CentOS image. The others are generally sufficient according to the default.

Click [Play Virtual Machine] to enter the installation welcome interface. We will see the following 5 messages. Here is a small series to explain the meaning of these five messages. And here we select the first message and press Enter to go to the next step.

"Install or upgrade an existing system": Install or upgrade an existing system

"Install system with basic video driver": Install system with basic video driver

"Rescue installed system": Enter system repair mode

"Boot from local drive": exit installation Boot from local drive

"Memory test": Storage media test

Click [skip] to enter the next step, select Simplified Chinese for language, select American English for keyboard, then select basic storage device, fill in host name, select time zone (Shanghai, Asia), and set management system password.

Select Create Custom Layout, enter the hard disk drive interface, select Standard Partition, select mount point and file system type, and divide the corresponding space size. And so on to create other partitions.

After the partition is divided, enter the next step, click Format, then select Write Modifications to Disk, wait a moment, enter the installation wizard interface, click Next.

Select Basic Server, click Next to enter the installation interface, wait for the installation to complete, click [Reboot] to enter the operating system login interface. Then fill in the login name and password to enter the operating system.

After the installation is complete and the operating system is turned on we may encounter the problem "Unable to connect MKS: socket connection attempts too many; aborting". At this time, we can open the Control Panel---> System and Security---> Management Tools---> Services, where we can find VMware Authorization Service to see if it is in the startup state. If it is not in the startup state, right-click and select Startup to solve the problem. If it is startup status, see if the startup type is set to automatic, if not right mouse click properties in the startup type is set to automatic.
