The company is removing the application corner feature available on Windows 10 Mobile, which has been no longer available to users since version 15007. This means that the author update that will be released in April will no longer have this feature.

As for the reasons for removing it from Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft said in the release notes for build 15014:

"due to reduced usage, the application corner is no longer available in Windows 10 Mobile."

In other words, only a few people are using Apps Corner, so it makes no sense for the company to continue to improve in the next mobile update of Windows 10.

The application corner is a feature that allows users to access selected applications on their phone and configure a custom start screen for everyone.

Unfortunately, that's why so many developers cited it when they decided to give up Windows Phone, pointing out that the decline in the number of users on the platform left them no choice but to focus on Android and iOS.

What is even more surprising, however, is that Microsoft is promoting Apps Corner as a potential alternative to Kid Corner, another feature that has been removed from Windows 10 phones due to low usage.

"after understanding the overall use of the Kids Corner feature in Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1, we decided to remove the feature from Windows 10 Mobile, starting with the 10th anniversary update of Windows. Kids Corner usage is too low to demonstrate the continued growth and support of this feature. Although it is not a substitute for the same functionality, you can try Apps Corner," the company said last year.
