Yammer is a lightweight enterprise social platform launched in 2008 that integrates with the enterprise email system. On Yammer platform, you can connect with everyone in the organization, let everyone participate in discussions, share information and so on. Since Microsoft acquired Yammer, it has focused on four key areas: leadership engagement, company-wide communication, knowledge sharing and employee experience.

On the Microsoft Ignite 2019 stage, Microsoft launched Yammer's upcoming New Features: Mobile Device supports Yammer App, which means joining the Microsoft 365 family of products, like Outlook, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams, Mobile App that enables users to have conversations anytime, anywhere, whether they are on the road or in the office, whether you are traveling to a customer meeting or an executive, it can improve your productivity, Facilitate collaboration between you and the entire company. Employees using Yammer will see a search bar at the top of Office 365, a feature that will make it easier for employees to find company-wide announcements and the information they need. To do this, it extends to different Yammer groups for all end users. Yammer Groups will now be called Yammer Communities. The main reason for this change is a change in the perception of Yammer by companies and employees. By changing the naming convention to "Community," it gives users a whole new perspective on what Yammer is designed for; building organization-wide communities, users can now also organize and manage the order in which their Yammer communities are displayed to prioritize what they need. Yammer Feed has also been updated and made simpler, which used to be split into three different types: All, Discovery, and Following, and has now been consolidated into a single feed that uses the latest AI and machine learning to analyze information across Office 365, focusing the Feed on Discovery and Following to ensure end users see the information that is most relevant to them. Within Communities, Yammer administrators can pin conversations at the top of Cummunies so that any relevant notifications are easily accessible, and employees no longer need to search through countless conversations for relevant discussions or community announcements.
